I'd like to know what are the disadvantages and advantages of upgrading to Windows 8.I've heard that some things change if you upgrade to Windows 8 you aren't able to watch movie DVD's on your computer anymore. Also hardware-wise where do you have to be at so your computer still works reliably with Windows 8?.
Yeah, the DVD thing isn't quite true. Basically, it does require a separate licensing package. Which is currently free if you upgrade now.I took the plunge. It was $40, I figured what the hell. For the most part, everything runs pretty smooth. I'm not entirely enamored by the "it would work if it were a touch screen" UI, but you can turn most of that off.
But for the most part, the computer starts faster, runs a little smoother. The dual monitor support does appear to be better. And my biggest fear, a huge majority of my software just migrated over fine. I still question whether or not I should have made the plunge, mostly because of the UI changes that I don't really need, but it does run smoother.
As for the hardware-wise thing, go to the Windows website, there's a bunch of tools that will tell you if you can or not.
